what makes a sport a sport?

Has anyone been watching the Olympics? I have. I've enjoyed the gymnastics, and the swimming. However, I have raised an eyebrow and giggled a bit in the last couple days at WHAT kind of sports they actually give medals for:

  • Trampoline (Tandem, no less!)
  • Doubles Ping-Pong (4 grown men huddled around the worlds smallest ping-pong table is hysterical)
  • Speed Walking (looks like a bunch of people who really need to pee)
  • Women's Wrestling (many guys would suggest that adding mud would make it more watchable)

And as if we don't get enough football, hockey, and basketball already...is it necessary to have more? And why are there TWO kinds of volleyball? And since it’s on the beach, again, many guys would suggest that bikini's would be in order.

Other's I don't quite get: Shooting, Archery, Sailing,

And lastly....let's be politically correct. If we're gonna have women ditzing around in a pool (aka: Synchronized Swimming) I wanna see the men do it too.
