Appliance Woes

When we first got possession of the house, we walked in to find the dryer in the basement running! It had been running all week, and had burnt out. So it doesn't stop on it's own after a cycle, and it doesn't get hot.

Then the fridge. There was a note on the counter from the homeowner saying that the ice maker had broken. Since "appliances in working order" is part of the sale of the home, the previous owners are responsible for paying for the fixes.

We had a guy come look at the appliances, and unfortunately the dryer is toast. We need a new one. Luckily, the previous owners are willing to pay for a replacement.

We soon realized that the ice maker wasn't the only problem with the fridge. Every morning my fridge would take a pee on the floor. We'd have this large puddle to mop up! "Uh-oh...the fridge peed again!" When the appliance repair dude came, I explained "My fridge pees!" He looked at me funny and kinda laughed. After he fixed it, he said "Alright, it should be able to hold it now...but if it pees again, let me know!" The estimate for the fixing of the fridge was another $500.00!!!

We thought our appliance woes were now taken care of. Until yesterday, when I had to wash Aila's comforter. (Since we are still dryer-less, I thought I'd just hang it to dry when it was done) After the washer was done, I went down to find a large puddle of water on the floor! Oh GREAT! My Washer pees too!!

I feel so bad for the previous owners. I felt horrible calling to say "Guess what.....the washer leaks!" Part of me wonders how they ever lived here with these appliances...is it possible they all only broke THIS week?

I'm still waiting to hear back from the previous owners about the washer. Please pray that they are also willing to pay for the repair of the washer. Legally they really must, but I just hope that they don't get upset and try to refuse. If I were them, I'd be so frustrated too! And I feel so bad about this mess....but we agreed to purchase a house with "working appliances" not a home with 3 lemons.

Anyway, today I feel like staying in my house. I feel safe in here. It already feels familiar. It is already starting to feel like mine. So for today, I don't feel like leaving it.

Yikes! That isn't fun to deal with! I'm glad that you guys don't have to worry about buying new ones! Post pictures of your place so that we can see what you've done to the inside!!!

I hope that the previous owners knew in their hearts that this would happen already and that they are prepared for it. I hope the Lord provides for them too.

This home that we moved into now didn't have any appliances included but that was okay because we brought with us our fridge and stove and bought the rest. It was a sweet deal to have all new appliances. The last house we were in had all the appliances but they were ancient but still running. Coming from an apartment, it was a blessing to have them no matter how they looked.

My fridge also urinates on my kitchen floor from time to time.
I've tried rubbing its nose in the puddle but to no avail.
Next time it makes a puddle I will resort to swatting it with a newspaper.

That last bit sounds like our prayers for you are working. Sorry about the appliances. Maybe the previous owners rented the property? I know when I was younger I rented a house with guys and we were not that gentle on the place or appliances.

My fridge pees too!! I've put off getting it fixed cuz I didn't know how much it would cost. I think we'll just keep a towel close by for the time being...$500 is a lot of money!
Hope it all works out with the previous owners!
