Tonight

I'm feeling funny tonight.

No...not "Swine Flu" funny, but FUNNY funny. Everything I say and think is really humorous. (at least to me!) I'm cracking myself up. But really...just myself. My kids think I'm nuts, and Jason is slowly turning up the volume on the tv to better hear the hockey game.

It's times like this when I miss Rhonda. She's so far away...even farther now. She and her husband (and 3 kids) are spending 3 months at IHOP in Kansas City. Now...it's still a 26 hour drive from here...so no further away than before, but she's not as accessible by phone...which makes her feel farther.

Why do I miss her? She laughs. She finds me simply hysterical, and even my lamest jokes are gold to her. In fact, her lameo jokes are funny to me too. Put us together, and the laughter (and volume) gradually increases in the room until we are beside ourselves with silliness, and the room has slowly cleared of people (covering their ears). When we are together, we stop being moms and wives, and are again the 15 year old best friends who could have fun anywhere, as long as we were together.

I sat here laughing out loud at something funny I said, to look back and see Jason smiling politely at me. (He's used to my outbursts) He finds me enjoyable most of the time...and enjoys hearing me laugh. He simply smiles. But I do miss my punch-line-comrade Rhonda tonight.

I think I'm bored. I keep checking my work email hoping for some work to come in. Waiting for one of the 20-ish authors I'm working with at the moment to give me the go ahead to move to the next stage of production of their book-cover design. Something. I'm bored. There is nothing on TV. I'd go for a walk, but I'm not in the mood for solitude. I need entertainment. The girls are watching hockey with Jason. They've been looking forward to it for days (a game on a weekend, when they can stay up and watch) I don't see the appeal. *yawn*

Maybe I should take up knitting again. (remember that, Winnipeg friends?) Good times.

I need a hobby.

(ps...yes...that's Rhonda and I at about 14 or 15 years old! I'm rockin the "piano watch")

That's hysterical! I just met Rhonda and her husband and 3 kids. Emma is so amazingly cute when I tell her about Jesus in my class. Her face just lights up! I will tell her you miss her and give her hugs for you. I didn't know you knew them from such a long time back!
Hope all is well with you!
