Good Morning

Well, what a morning. I was awakened by Chaos in my house. Apparently, Anneka vomited off of the top bunk onto the floor. Not once, not twice, but 5 times. She was quite thrilled with herself afterwards, as I believe this is the first time in 6 years that she's thrown up. She was perfectly giddy, explaining all the nuances of the event, and how her legs were now trembly and shaky, and how that's "so weird, isn't it Mommy?"

Just the sight of the vomit chunks on the floor was enough to make Jason nauseous, so he had to leave the room. Hmmm...that leaves me.

So I spent some time trying to clean puke out of the light-coloured carpet. Luckily I have a Mother who can clean "anything out of anything", and I'm well-versed in this art. I found that Tilex was doing an okay job, but only if I really 'gave it my all'. I finished off the masterpiece by spraying generous amounts of vinegar over the spot, and attempting to vacuum up the stray chunks.

I then found that the girls had made a huge mess in their bathroom. Crap. So I cleaned that too. While I had the spray-cleaner out, it only made sense to clean our en suite as well. And if you're gonna clean a bathroom, you may as well vacuum the floor. While vacuuming the floor, I noticed that after the "puke-fest", I was going to have to do some laundry. Hmmm...not quite enough for a load....so I may as well throw in our bedding. While I'm at it, I may as well put new bedding on....since I'm here.

I was going to take the basket of pukey laundry downstairs when Aila announced that "by Axi-dence" she had spilled her bowl of soggy cheerios all over the kitchen table, chairs, and floor. Oh hooray! I had JUST been thinking that the ONLY thing that could possible make this morning more enjoyable is the idea of picking up sopping wet cheerios one by one, and mopping up soon-to-be-sticky-sour-milk puddles. My morning was complete.

Before heading to the laundry room, I thought I"d quickly check my work email. I was delighted to hear from a new client to whom I had sent 4 new samples last night at 1 am. She decided that she'd like to see "more samples of the samples"...in 'various colors'. (Just to see...of course). I told her that I would in fact make her NO more samples, but if she wanted to come and clean vomit out of carpet fibers, I may re-consider. Okay, I didn't say that. But I did turn down her gracious offer to make "more various kinds" of anything. (She'd have to be more specific than that, I'm afraid!)

I think I'll brush my hair and have some breakfast now....after all...how hard could it be?
