Cuteisms

The other day, Renee was brushing Aila's hair. Aila was squirming and complaining (as always), so Renee said "Aila, you need to stand as still as a statue!"

Aila then popped one hand into the air, and stood there, arm up high completely still while Renee brushed her hair. I had to laugh. You see, the only "statue" Aila is familiar with (thanks to some US cartoon) is the Statue of Liberty!

Anneka has been playing with the neighborhood boys every day. She adores them! There are no little girls that she has met, but that doesn't seem to bother her. However, boys and girls play differently. SHE likes to play with her "littlest pet shop" toys. THEY like video games. There are other differences as well....some more interesting.

Anneka: "Mommy, Andrew taught me a new word!"
Me: "Oh? What word is that?"
Anneka: (sung) "Bom chicka wah wah"

(if you are not familiar with the term, go here)

I explained to Anneka, that that phrase refers to when a boy and a girl kiss for a long time. (okay, sue me....but I wasn't gonna go into details!) And she was horrified. "Ewwwe!"

Phew! Yeah! Crisis averted! She has never used the term again! (2 points for meeee!)

Anneka: "Mommy...I've discovered something"
Me: "oh? what's that?"
Anneka: "Fighting is FUN!"

*stunned silence*

Anneka continues: "Yeah...me and Andrew and Huzefa wrestle all the time, and its fun because we're just playing, and we never get hurt!"
(insert Mom-talk about the difference between fighting and play-fighting, and warnings that if she ever purposely inflicts harm on another child, she will be carried away to jail. ......or something less severe but whatever...I was making a point)

Hi Yvonne,

I read your Blog. I had to laugh.
My son Shane says BON CHICKA WAH WAH it is from the AXE commercials.
The girls think the boys smell sooo good they say it and do a little dance.
