Meet the Teacher

Here in Ottawa, they have a couple different options for school. Total french, partial french, Regular English, Catholic French, Catholic partial French etc....

I had heard great things about the Catholic schools. LOTS of teaching about Jesus, celebrating Christmas with Christ in the centre, and biblical lessons etc. The only problem is that either the child, or one of the parents must have been baptized as an infant to attend. "Darn" we thought..."that would have been great!"

After talking to Jason's Mom about the schools here, she said "But Jason was baptized! We even have the certificate!". No kidding!!!

So now, our two girls are registered in the Catholic school down the road from us! And so far, I love it! We went for a visit, and it was so great to see posters all over the place about Jesus, about loving one another as God has loved us....about prayer, thankfulness to God...etc. We explained to the girls that this was a Christian school. They didn't know what that meant exactly, so we simplified it. "It's a Jesus School!"

When we took the girls there to visit, Aila's first words were "Where is He? Where's Jesus?!" We had to explain that you couldn't see Jesus here, but reviewed that He lives in her heart and is everywhere...and that this is a school that TEACHES about Jesus. "Oh." she said. I had a feeling she didn't quite understand....and I was right.

We were able to meet Aila's new teacher, and she was wonderful. Aila walked into the classroom, and marched up to the teacher practically yelling "JESUS IS COMING SOON!".

I must have turned bright red. "Great" I thought. "Way to introduce ourselves as the radical evangelicals!" I was about to explain to the teacher that Aila actually expected to see Jesus at the school, and believes he's "on his way", but before I could the teacher bent down to Aila and said:

"That's right Aila....He IS coming soon! We're going to talk alot about Jesus here...."

Wow!! Hurray! I love this school!

Did I ever tell you about the time when Jason's little brother was 4 years old, he sang out very loudly in the line up at Safeway...'Jesus is the Answer for the world today !'
It was true then and it's still true today.(though many would disagree) Way to go Aila!

That sounds great!

Simeon and Esther learned a new song/scripture at VBS and they love to sing it at the top of their lungs whenever we're in public:
"Jesus said, I am the way, I am the way, and the truth, and the truth, and the life, and the life! No one, NO ONE comes to the father except through me. No one, NO ONE comes to the father except through me."

Truth spoken with confidence in a culture full of "all roads lead to heaven" messages. Out of the mouths of babes...
