The business of birthdays...
Today isn't Anneka's birthday. It's actually on Sunday. However, her party is tonight! She is having a sleepover, and I've been busily getting ready for it all day. Once she was sleeping, I decorated the main floor with streamers and hanging flower-mobiles that I made, with lots of purple curly ribbon hanging around. She should be so surprised in the morning!
In lieu of an over-priced cake, I found a bakery that had theses adorable cupcakes. I bought 18. (Cost half the price of a fancy themed cake) I took the savings, and headed to the Dollar store. Since Hannah Montana is the theme, I decided to go a little further, and do the "Pop Star" theme. Each of the 2 girls coming get a feather boa, and rock-star sunglasses in a little gift bag. So Anneka and her 2 pals all get to be Hannah Montana for the evening!
Then we're gonna have "make your own pizza" for dinner. Fun, easy, fast. After dessert, I thought I'd take the girls to Starbucks for a hot chocolate. (they offer kids-hot chocolate for $1, done at a drinkable temp) Dressed up in their boas and shades, they're sure to get some 'rock star' attention! Then it's off to Dollarama. Again, in lieu of 'loot bags', each girl will get $5, and be able to choose her own treats. Maybe they'll pick out a craft we can do back at home.
Then it's chips, ice cream bars and snacks, as they giggle and play and maybe watch a movie. If its nice outside, maybe even a fire in the backyard...smores and marshmallows...that kinda thing.
Yeah...so smart to pump them full of sugar and then say "okay...time for bed!!" but I'm counting on the sugar crash afterwards. hehe. I don't expect them to fall asleep anytime soon...that's why we're putting the 3 girls in the basement. (We all sleep on the 2nd floor) They can giggle and chatter all they like.....and I won't hear them. Hopefully.
In the morning it's pancakes, and then driving the girlies home.
Somehow, in my head, this seemed like an easier idea than having 10 kids over for a 2 hour birthday party. Hmmm. We shall see. Its Annekas first sleep-over EVER...and the first for the other 2 girls as well I found out! So they are soooooo terribly excited! That just makes it worth all the work...
I'll try to post some pictures...if I remember to take any!
