Neighbour Boys
You may remember my post a couple weeks ago about the new "word" Anneka (age 7) learned from the "older" neighbor boy. (Bom Chicka Wow wow)
The other day in the car, we overheard her mutter "Awww...Bite Me".
We jumped on that right away!
"Anneka...where did you hear that!"
We knew there were two options. Either school, or our backyard. I figured if it was school, she would have admitted she heard it on the playground. However, she refused to give up the culprit. Hmm....suspicious. (I'm sure she realized that if she did tell us, there was a chance we might restrict contact!) So she cleverly said "Nowhere...I just made it up."
"No you didn't..."
"Yes I did..."
"No you didn't!"
"Yes I did."
"No you didn't!"
"Yes I did."
"Well Anneka...no matter WHERE you heard it...that is something I don't ever want you to say again, okay?!"
"Is it a swear?"
"Uh...no....not quite. Just really rude and mean....and the kind of talk that could get you in BIG trouble at school OR at home!"
We haven't heard it again. But I have to admit, it's hard to not give the 'evil suspicious eye' to the kids next door. (Corrupting our cute little daughter!) But then again, it's only the beginning of many years of arduous de-corrupting we'll have to attempt.
I wonder how far we are from the closest all-girls school...hmmmmm

She could have heard it on the television...it is quite common I think....rude but common, there are even t-shirts.(but I am sure you know this)
Oh how I remember certain brothers calling each other some 'rude' names. Ah parenting ! So much joy and so much frustration. One day it will be Anneka writing about the joys of your grandchildren. Meanwhile we do our best, and I am so proud of the parents you and Jason have become.
Oh well, she is in this world but not of it right?
She is not the first kid to say something inappropiate.
