Friends

Our friends Larry and Odia were here for 5 days last week. It was so much fun! They flew in from Winnipeg on Wednesday, and left Monday afternoon.

We did so much! We had dinner at The Works (of course!), a private tour of Parliament, a Sushi lunch, Larry went to the Exodus Cry meeting with Jason, we saw the National Gallery of Canada, introduced them to a couple Ottawa friends, saw a hockey game, went to church, made a Thanksgiving Meal together, saw the market, talked, talked, talked, and had the best ribs we'd ever had. In a nutshell. :P

It was a blast!

It was really cool to have Winnipeg friends here in Ottawa, and then let the two worlds "collide" (as George Costanza would say). There is something about people who know you. Who not only know your history and where you come from, but who share that history too! So much of our lives have intertwined over the past 11 ish years of knowing each other. We have shared the same church, the same mentors, the same housegroup, the same neighborhood. Larry sang on my worship team, and was an encouraging cheer-leader each time I lead. For 2 years, I met with some girls as we walked through our dealings with our weight and healthy living. Odia was one of those girls who I saw each and every Monday. They now live in the same town as my Rhonda, and Odia happens to work at the same company that Jason does. We've spent time together at IHOP, swapped teaching cds, laughed until we cried, teased Jason together, and shared tears and deep talks. So many many connections.

At one point Odia looked at me, smiled, and simply said "It's good you're here. You're supposed to be here."

It was simple...but inside I breathed a sigh of relief. It's true. Sometimes I don't know why we're here, or how to deal with the challenges...but it's true: We are where we are supposed to be.

How amazing to have friends who would spend their own money to come and visit us. To immerse themselves in our lives for a few days, pray with our new friends, love on us......blessing us over and over..... Amazing!

Seems you had an unforgettable time and you made new memories together.

I have to agree with Odia, as much as we miss you, Jason and the girls, you are exactly where the Lord wants you to be and THAT is a great comfort for Dad and me.
Love you

wow. yes, that is amazing. Martha came to see me once, it was great.
And I was nodding HUGely at teh history section- something you so miss in a new place, someone who knows you, where you came from, and can put you in a greater context than the building you are standing in at the moment! they have an idea of all that went on before that! So hugely comforting and meaningful.
Yay! Bless you, Yvonne!! oh, and you too, Jason, and of course the girls!!! lol
